  • 1 1/2 cups (180 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) cocoa powder
  • 2 cups (400 g) sugar
  • 1 cup (240 mL) vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 cup (240 mL) buttermilk (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) salt
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons (10 mL) vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon (5 mL) white vinegar
  • 120 mL hot coffee

Steps:

  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together sugar and vegetable oil until well combined. Add buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Incorporate Vinegar and Coffee: Whisk in white vinegar and hot coffee into the wet ingredients mixture until fully combined.
